The Ellerslie neighbourhood was originally a farm district and featured an old paved road for access. In complete contrast, today the area features excellent access to the ring road that is Anthony Henday Drive. This freeway borders the north side of the neighbourhood. The area also is located next to the 91 street interchange, giving excellent access to Nisku or the Edmonton International Airport. The neighbourhood was planned and built in the early 2000s, and there are quite a range of different residential types available. The diverse real estate options includes single family detached, semi detached (or duplex townhouse style), and low rise apartments. The neighbourhood also has kept some natural tree stands and also parks, connected by pathways. As an added bonus, the area is close to the enormous South Edmonton Common shopping district to the north.
The condominium complexes that have had units sell in them in Ellerslie over the last 12 months include: Copperstone, Ellerslie Court, Ellerslie Lane, Park Place Ellerslie, Sandstone Estates Ellerslie and Stonebridge
