The Hamptons is a very popular area for families. In fact, when areas are announced that had the highest number of trick or treaters on Halloween, this area normally leads the way. The area has benefited from the construction of two schools, one public and one separate, again adding to the popularity for families. It was originally planned that a school would be built to the North in Glastonbury (Grange and Parkland), but due to the extensive growth of the Hamptons to the south, the decision was made to build the schools further south. The plans are for 70% of the neighbourhood to be single family detached housing, and the remainder medium density. The commercial shopping area continues to grow. Currently, anchor tenants like Save-On Foods, Boston Pizza, and Shopper's Drug Mart exist, but more is being developed. This area also features easy access to downtown as well as other areas of the city due to it's proximity to the Anthony Henday freeway.
Condo complexes in the area that have had units sell in them over the last 12 months include: Mosaic Meadows, Mosaic Parkland, Park Place Hamptons and Park Place South Hamptons.
